Biography
Ben Molyneux is a father, husband, professional photographer, author and artist.
His photography work spans a career of more than 17 years making him the longest established professional portrait photographer in Oxfordshire.
Ben set up his first company at the age of 21 with another photographer Robert Cadle. They worked together for 3 years under the company name Cadle and Molyneux Photography. In 1997 Ben set up on his own as Ben Molyneux Photography. In 2002 Ben launched West Oxon Photography Ltd that specialises in nursery schools and preschools.
Ben’s work is characterised by its modern, informal and subtle style – he achieves outstanding results by engaging well with his subjects, in particular children, and has developed a reputation for high quality work that is recognisable but not contrived. Ben contributes to a number of Picture Libraries in the UK and Austria, covering a range of topics, his work frequently features in the national press and his images have been used in over 30 different countries world wide.
Ben launched The Source Modelling Agency in 2000 with co-founder Mark Bassett, and secured contracts with prestigious clients such as Vodafone, Debenhams, Nokia, Oxford University Press and the McMillen Partnership. The Agency achieved front covers with MIZZ, Shout and Continental Brides. In 2001 Ben entered unknown model Danielle Luan into the Miss England competition who subsequently went on to win and represent England.
Ben began his writing career in 2007 with his first novel ‘Arthur Archer and the Time Traveller’s Chronicles.’ The novel was published in June 2011 with Janus and is now selling online with Amazon, Tesco’s WHSmiths and Blackwells. The book is targeted for the young adult market, yet is also appealing as adult fiction’. Ben recently featured as one of the authors at the Witney Book Festival.
Ben has been exhibiting his photographic art since 2000, and has held exhibitions in England and Scotland. His art work has featured in Oxford Art week and is currently exhibiting at Hackett’s in Witney and The Old Mill in Chipping Norton.
In 2010 Ben founded Witney Ripples, which is a local collective of independent business professionals’ based in or near Witney. The companies all share the same business ethos of fair and honest trading, working together to offer support to each other as well as their local community. There is currently a waiting list to join.’
Ben has a wide range of interests and passions. He is passionate about the environment and his local community. He regularly attends life drawing classes. He has an interest in past lives and hypnotherapy. He is also passionate about holistic therapies. Ben has a love of history and old architecture and also loves reading and lists Bernard Cornwell, JK Rowling, JR Tolkien, David Eddings and Philip Pullman amongst his favourite authors. He is also a keen chef and vegetarian. He is often online playing chess tournaments all over the world. But probably his favourite past time of them all is spending time with his family walking through the Oxfordshire countryside with a camera at hand.
